Fantasy Baseball Hitting Planner: April 16 – April 18

The biggest difference from last week’s Fri-Sun slate is that every team plays three games this weekend. So your start/sit decisions could be made a bit more difficult. A tad more nuance might be required. The sheet is linked RIGHT HERE.

Ace pitchers on a day of extra rest…

Jacob deGrom was pushed back a day for rain, so “lucky” you, Rockies. Walker Buehler is also pitching on an extra day of rest–good luck with that, Padres. Also, good luck with Kershaw and Bauer. Just yikes at any time your favorite team plays the Dodgers. Good thing Fernando Tatis Jr. is back today, right Friar faithful?

Cold at Coors Field…

It looks like cold weather in Colorado this weekend? It’s projected to be 34 degrees for Friday’s game, and the run total is a lowly (for Coors) 9.5–with the Mets “only” projected for 6.23 runs against Chi Chi Gonzalez. Obviously still a great spot, but maybe it’s not the autoplay it is typically if you have stronger bench options than your middling Rockies or Mets bats.

PPD risk for TOR/KC and CWS/BOS…

Sooooo, if either of those comes to fruition, you could be looking at a lowly two games instead of three. That could hurt. Read the Roth report or your favorite weatherman (or woman) on Twitter. I’m not a weather person.

Royals bats versus three straight lefties…

Though those lefties are quality–Matz, Robbie Ray, and Ryu. I sorted for all of 2020 and 2021 for the Royals, and was surprised that neither Hunter Dozier nor Jorge Soler have a home run in that split over that time frame. The best plays look like Whit Merrifield and Salvador Perez, but you were starting those guys anyway.

Brandon Nimmo, I am still a fan…

The Mets get three straight righties at Coors Field. Just give me all the Nimmo.

Pirates avoid the big MLW aces…

No Woodruff or Burnes for PIT this weekend. Instead it’s ground ball artists in Houser and Anderson, followed by strikeout master Freddy Peralta. Still, it could be worse. PIT bats in a pinch.

There are more notes on the sheet! Make sure you check it out! Still missing some probably starters, but I’ll chip away at it some more during the day. For now, I hope the first pass helps someone make some micromovements in their Fri-Sun NFBC lineups.
